Brewers Rumors: Milwaukee in on potential trade for 1B Allen Craig?

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the market for a first baseman, and it looks like they may be joining the Miami Marlins by having set their sights on Boston Red Sox 1B/OF Allen Craig.

Per Drew Silva of NBC's Hardball Talk, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe writes Sunday that the Marlins “have Craig on their list of possible acquisitions as they pursue a right-handed hitter to play first base” and the Brewers are interested in making him a platoon partner with Adam Lind.

Craig had a rough 2014 campaign to say the least, posting a .215/.279/.315 slash line with eight home runs and 46 RBI's in 126 games between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. However, Craig was one of the most productive hitters in all of baseball in 2011-13, so the Brewers are likely banking on a return to form going forward.

The 30-year-old veteran is owed $26.5 million over the next three seasons, and hasn't quite looked the same since suffering a Lisfranc foot injury back in late 2013.
