Wembley glory for former Sunderland man Julio Arca as South Shields defeat Cleethropes in FA Vase final

Julio Arca was a Wembley winner on Sunday as South Shields won a fourth trophy of the season, beating Cleethorpes 4-0 in the FA Vase final.

The former Middlesbrough and Sunderland midfielder, now 36, said: ‘It’s incredible. I was watching Chelsea’s players playing here a few weeks ago thinking, “Wow, I’m going to be here in a few weeks”.’

South Shields had already won Northern League Division One, the Durham Cup and the Nothern League Challenge Cup, but the FA Vase topped the lot.
