Siegel boys use key run to knock off La Vergne

It was a physical, above-the-rim game in boys action as Siegel pulled out a 70-55 victory over Stewarts Creek Friday night.

"One thing I continually say is we have to have good effort and attitude," said Siegel coach Dyron Birdwell. "We had neither last week versus Riverdale, so we've had a tough week of practice. We worked hard, had to play Blackman, which I appreciate that effort. But we came out tonight with better effort and energy."

Each team came out swinging, with Siegel drawing first blood and staying ahead. However, the Red Hawks never trailed by more than four and actually tied the game 11-11 at the 1:11 mark on two free throws by Tyler Conely.
