The Maize and Blue held a lead for most of the game, claiming an edge by as many as 10 points in the first half, but the closing minutes were anything but a calm or easy victory.
“Our defense was gritty, it was tough the last two minutes. Everything it wasn’t against Virginia Tech for the last two or three minutes, it was tonight,” head coach John Beilein stated. “Our kids just sat down and guarded. Nobody could make a shot. It was not a pretty offensive game. But we got done what we had to get done.
