U-M's Maurice Hurst returns, joins Rashan Gary in elite D-line combo

As Maurice Hurst watched his teammates go through pro day last week, he was conflicted.

“It was kind of tough watching the guys all work out without being out there,” said Hurst, Michigan’s most dominant returning defensive lineman. “Just from all the stuff that we have been through for the past four years, I wish I would have been out there with them working. But I was really excited to watch them and watch them do well.”

Hurst certainly could have been one of them.

His numbers last season — 34 tackles, 11½ for loss, 4½ sacks — measured up well with his NFL-bound senior teammates and that was with him in a reserve role.
