U-M CB Jourdan Lewis glad to return, even if it means taking a hit

Jourdan Lewis spent the entire off-season working on his hitting, defending the run.

So it was ironic when, near the end of the senior cornerback's first game this season for Michigan, he was the one getting popped.

With 11:22 to go in Michigan’s 49-10 win over Penn State last weekend, Lewis returned his first kickoff of the season, caught it at the 5 and when he got to the 22-yard line, Penn State kicker Joey Julius laid him out.

“Have I seen it? Yeah, I’ve seen it a lot,” Lewis said Tuesday night after practice.

After one of the nation’s best players gets leveled like that – and gets up OK after – he starts hearing from the nation’s other greats.
