The Opening a chance for Michigan to rake in more elite prospects

The next week will be important for Michigan football's 2018 recruiting class, even though the targets will be nowhere near the U-M coaches.

The Opening, an invitation-only high school football camp consisting of some of the nation's top senior prospects, and the Elite 11 quarterback final begin Wednesday and run through July 3 in Beaverton, Ore.

Michigan quarterback commit Joe Milton, a four-star prospect, did not qualify for the Elite 11 final, but the week still will be an opportunity for other Michigan commitments bond with some of U-M's top uncommitted targets.

Organizers aid the cause by placing committed players on teams with recruits considering their school.
