The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Dawson announced his decision to leave Michigan as a graduate transfer shortly after Michigan closed its 2016 season in the Orange Bowl.
A former touted four-star recruit from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Dawson never made his way into Michigan's starting lineup during four seasons in Ann Arbor.
