Debut of Harbaugh TV show brings 31-year flashback

Jim Harbaugh was restrained the last time he prepared to make his debut as the face of Michigan football.

As a redshirt sophomore quarterback in 1984, he was taking over for three-year starter Steve Smith, preparing for the No. 1 team in the nation, Miami, Fla., in the season opener.

This season's debut of the "Inside Michigan Football" television show aired this morning with a short flashback to that introduction and a mini-feature on Harbaugh.

"I don't like to compare myself to Steve, he was a great quarterback – a great running quarterback and a fine throwing quarterback," Harbaugh says in the faded clip, with a little more hair.
