Michigan Football News: Shane Morris, Jake Rudock Talk Jim Harbaugh, Address QB Competition

Lost in the hype surrounding the Cardale Jones vs. JT Barrett QB battle in Columbus is a just-as-intriguing competition between Iowa transfer Jake Rudock and incumbent Shane Morris for the starting spot on Michigan football's 2015 depth chart.

Neither quarterback has a decided edge -- especially with the hush clause surrounding the Michigan coaching staff when it comes to their thoughts on the battle so far. One thing's for certain, though. Both quarterbacks are being pushed to their limits by new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

"He demands perfection," Rudock said, via MLive.com. "He really wants you to be great. They're striving to make us better players and better men. It's hard sometimes because you've always got someone in your ear. ... You have to understand that it's with the best intention.

"You can't get caught up in 'oh, he's attacking me.' No, he's trying to make us better."

As Morris puts it, all it's going to come down to is Harbaugh and the staff finding the one quarterback they feel most comfortable with heading into the season opener against Utah.

"Whoever they feel is the most ready to play against Utah, who has the best understanding of the offense and who is playing the best at they point," Morris deadpanned. "(Whoever) they feel can lead us to victory."
