Four-Star OG Michael Onwenu Sticks With Michigan, Won't Flip To Michigan State

After he took an official visit to Michigan State on Jan. 22nd, there were concerns that four-star offensive guard Michael Onwenu could flip from the Michigan Wolverines. However, the top ranked player from the state of Michigan reaffirmed his commitment Tuesday night.

"I did take a visit down there [to East Lansing], just to take a visit. I only get this opportunity once," Onwenu said on the Cityballers podcast. "For the next four to five years, I am going to continue college and get my masters degree, I'll be taking my talents to the University of Michigan."

Onwenu is the No. 88 overall player in the 2016 class and the No. 4 guard. The Wolverines are in need of offensive line help in this recruiting cycle and did not want to lose Onwenu. He originally committed back in June.

The Spartans offer came late in the process, on Jan. 18th. There's a chance the 6-foot-3, 360-pound Onwenu could play on both sides of the ball for Michigan. At his size, he could contribute on short-yardage downs. For more on the Wolverines' recruiting class, download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app
