Michigan women's tennis snaps 10-year runner-up streak to capture Big Ten championship

ANN ARBOR – There was a collective sigh of relief between the Michigan women's tennis coaches and players Sunday in Evanston, Ill.

After finishing runner-up in 10 straight Big Ten tournaments, the Wolverines beat Ohio State, 4-0, in lucky No. 11.

"I've been through eight of them and I think the streak started before I started," said coach Ronni Bernstein. "We've made it to the finals, which is a huge accomplishment but we kind of always fell short ... To finally win the tournament, it was sweet for sure."

No. 12 Michigan reached the conference final after picking up 4-0 and 4-1 wins over Minnesota and Penn State.
