Michigan Football News: WR Devin Funchess Talks Expectations, Role In Wolverines Offense

In this Michigan football news and rumors update, Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Devin Funchess is well aware of the expectations that fans and coaches alike have piled on top of him.

After catching three touchdown passes in Michigan's opening week win over Appalachian State, Funchess understands that the spotlight - and his role - will change dramatically when the Wolverines take the field against Notre Dame on Saturday night.

"They are going to play me differently than Appalachian State did, but that's OK," he said, via Dave Hogg of the Associated Press. "That's going to open up things for our other wide receivers and tight ends, which will be good for the team. And I'm going to be ready to make as many plays as I can."

Funchess' humility belies his game-changing talent, according to offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.

The way he has practiced and prepared for this season, Devin is clearly taking his game to the next level," Nussmeier stated. "That's what great players do. They challenge themselves every day to get better, and he's going to keep getting better as he masters his craft."

"How good can he be? He's got a very high ceiling."
