Despite long-standing rumors that the Baltimore Ravens head coach would take over the Michigan Wolverines in a heartbeat, John Harbaugh has come out in defense of much-maligned Brady Hoke with Hoke now occupying one of the hottest coaching seats in college football.

"Brady Hoke is a guy that we all believe in. The Harbaughs believe in Brady Hoke," Harbaugh said to reporters in Baltimore on Monday, via the Baltimore Sun. "He's a great coach. He believes in Michigan. I believe in what they're doing there. I think they're going to get it turned around."

"The team should be galvanized right now," he added. "They should be like lions. I'm interested in Brady Hoke being the coach at Michigan for a long time coming."

Hoke's relationship with the Harbaughs spans back 30 years, when John and Jim's father, Jack, hired Hoke as an assistant coach during his time at Western Michigan.

Hoke joined current Michigan Wolverines defensive coordinator Greg Mattison on that staff along with John Harbaugh himself, who served as his father's running backs coach.

The Baltimore Sun also reported on Monday, via a source close to the situation, that John Harbaugh is currently uninterested in filling a vacancy at Michigan should Hoke be fired in the near future.
