Dylan Larkin to leave Michigan, join Red Wings organization

After months of speculation and contemplation, former Michigan hockey forward Dylan Larkin will forgo his final three years of NCAA eligibility and join the Detroit Red Wings organization, which drafted him in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

The loss hurts the Wolverines more than the usual freshman departure. Larkin finished the season with 15 goals and 32 assists, ranked sixth nationally with 1.34 points per-game and tallied the most points (47) by a Michigan freshman since Hobey Baker award-winner and National Champion Brendan Morrison scored 48 in 1994 — two years before Larkin was even born.
