Derrick Walton Jr. Out For The "Foreseeable Future" With Foot Injury

The Michigan Wolverines lost to in-state rival Michigan State in overtime on Sunday afternoon, their second straight game playing without starting point guard Derrick Walton Jr.

Walton has been battling issues with his right foot stemming from a sprained toe he suffered in November.

“We don’t anticipate him back for awhile. We don’t have a date, but it won’t be for the foreseeable future,” head coach John Beilein said.

Walton was on crutches and wearing a boot on Sunday.

Junior Spike Albrecht has taken over the starting point guard role, and sophomore wing Zak Irvin is now being relied on to step up and carry the team.
