4 Things We've Learned At Michigan Fall Football Camp So Far

The start of college football is almost here. Fall camps are getting close to wrapping up and teams across the nation are ready to play a live game. It's no different for the Michigan Wolverines. It's new head coach John Harbaugh's first fall camp in Maize and Blue since he played QB for the team years ago. The Big Ten Network was at Michigan fall camp Wednesday and here are four things we've learned.

Someone Needs To Rush The Passer

Someone on the Michigan defensive line needs to step up and get to the quarterback. Will it be Mario Ojemudia, who had 3.5 sacks last season? Chris Wormley has kicked outside from tackle, but he's better at stopping the run. Perhaps Taco Charlton can finally cash in on his potential. He's got one of the best names in college football, but needs to do better than the 3.5 sacks he posted last season. Getting a consistent pass rush will help take the pressure of Michigan's secondary.

Offensive Line Should Be Better

The talent has always been there. The Wolverines' line is full of four-star or higher recruits. The unit just hasn't played up to their billing. Mason Cole played well last year and should be even better this year. The rest of the unit should play closer to their potential after getting coached up by Harbaugh's staff.

Plenty Of Options At Running Back

Michigan has plenty of potential options at running back this season. USC transfer Ty Isaac is a bulldozer and De'Veon Smith averaged almost five yards per carry last season. Drake Johnson has showed some ability during his three seasons. But this might finally be the year Derrick Green lives up to his hype coming out of high school. He was on the verge of breaking out before breaking his clavicle at the beginning on October. Now that he's healthy, he could have a big season behind Michigan's improved O-Line.

Jake Rudock Looks Like The Starter

Rudock gives Michigan its best chance to win now. The Wolverines play Utah, Oregon State and BYU in the first four games. Those aren't powerhouses, but they'll be a challenge. After all, Utah did beat Michigan last season. Rudock might not have the arm talent Shane Morris does, but he's more consistent, experienced and accurate. He only threw five picks last season and should be even better with noted QB guru Harbaugh coaching him.
