Vieaux lifts MSU past Nebraska in B1Gs opener

Michigan State’s five-run sixth inning gave starting pitcher Cam Vieaux all of the support he needed.

The seventh-seeded Spartans’ left-handed ace allowed just three hits over 8 2/3 innings, pitching the Spartans to a 5-1 victory over No. 2 seed Nebraska in the opening game of the Big Ten Tournament at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

“It all came together for us in the fifth, and we started rolling there in that inning,” MSU coach Jake Boss told Big Ten Network after the game. “You get a big inning and you got a No. 1 guy on the mound like that, good things are gonna happen.
