Tom Izzo had an ear-to-ear grin and a slight bounce in his step this morning in downtown Detroit. The Michigan State basketball coach was helping Nike open its new community store and listening to a group of young people doing a choreographed cheer on the sidewalk to entertain the nearly 1,000 people standing in line along Woodward Avenue.
“I just think it’s great for this city," Izzo said. “You bring a first-class company in here, and you see what Dan Gilbert has done down here, putting all these things together.
