EAST LANSING – Tom Izzo, Hall of Famer.
That title is a step closer to the Michigan State coach’s reality after today’s announcement that he is one of 14 finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The class of 2016 will be announced April 4 in Houston, a few hours before the national championship game at NRG Stadium, in which Izzo hopes to be coaching.
The enshrinement ceremony will be Sept. 9 at the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. It was established in 1959 and honors both professionals and amateurs — 345 individuals and 10 teams, to date.
