Dantonio: Williams has paid the price to play

EAST LANSING – Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio explained after today’s practice why junior running back Delton Williams — who returned to the team Aug. 14 after about five months of suspension for flashing a gun on campus — will be active for MSU’s Sept. 4 opener at Western Michigan.

“From my perspective, Delton went through all the — you know, he was five months away from this program,” Dantonio said of Williams, who will not be on scholarship this year. “I’m talking about five months where he didn’t step foot in this building. So he’s on his own in terms of a scholarship, I think everybody understands that.
