Nearly two years ago, Michigan State seemed to be the favorite to land five-star power forward Cliff Alexander in the class of 2014. The big man would have polished off a solid class with Tum Tum Nairn as well as Marvin Clark and Javon Bess.
While those other three guys were locks to join the Green & White, Alexander’s relationship with coach Tom Izzo seemed to diminish over the summer. Rumors were going around that the top prospect dropped Michigan State from his radar, rather interesting seeing as he had the Spartans near the top of his board for so long.
