The Marlins made a couple of transactions in their own organization yesterday, the first of which involved some shuffling to its rotation. Miami optioned Jared Cosart to triple-A New Orleans after allowing 13 runs over 14.2 innings to start the season.
Justin Nicolino is expected to be called up and replace Cosart in the rotation. In 12 starts in the major as a rookie last season Nicolino went 5-4 with a 4.01 ERA.
Martin Prado was also reinstated from the MLB's paternity list yesterday after missing the past couple games. Prado has posted a slashing line of .
