PHILADELPHIA -- It was a long one. It wasn’t a successful one.
The Marlins closed out a franchise-long 7,193-mile road trip Thursday with a 3-2 loss to the Phillies that left them with a 3-5 record on the cross-country trek to three cities.
And, once again, it was Jeremy Hellickson who did them in.
Hellickson continued his dominance of the Marlins, holding them to a run over six innings. In his past seven starts against the Marlins, Hellickson has gone 4-1 with a 1.94 ERA.
The Marlins tried unsuccessfully to trade for Hellickson last season, and it’s easy to see why given how the right-hander has befuddled them.
