Rosier, Testaverde competing for UM's backup QB job

When the Hurricanes move into more of a game-preparation mode next week, with first and second units more defined and a scout team starting to simulate early-season opponents, two quarterbacks –not four – will be fighting for the backup role behind starter Brad Kaaya.

One of the signal callers in the race isn't exactly a surprise. Malik Rosier served as Miami's No. 2 quarterback last season and played well when pressed into duty at Duke after Kaaya was hurt in October

But walk-on transfer Vincent Testaverde — the other quarterback coach Mark Richt said will be competing for the right to earn the backup title — has emerged as the second contender in the race.
