MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Despite it being the NBA offseason Hassan Whiteside tallied another double-double on Thursday. It wasn’t points and rebounds but pure business.
First, he tweeted an announcement about joining the Nike family.
Hours later, the Miami Heat reportedly fully guaranteed their young center’s salary for the 2015-16 season, according to the Sun Sentinel.
His salary for the upcoming year is $981,348, a bargain for the 26-year-old potential star, and the Heat decided to eliminate the staggered guarantee dates.
Whiteside is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and is expected to net a massive raise in the realm of $18 million-plus annually pending he continues to show he’s an impact big man on both ends of the court.
