Maryland men’s lacrosse rallies past Ohio State in overtime victory

For about 56 minutes on Saturday, Ohio State handled Maryland with a blend of pressure and speed, at times looking as if it was going to blow the country’s third-ranked team out in front of nearly 40,000 fans at the Horseshoe. By the midway point of the fourth quarter, Buckeyes led 9-5 and were closing in on a share of its first Big Ten championship.

But the final four minutes and 22 seconds belonged to Maryland, which never folded down the stretch. The Terrapins scored four goals in that span to tie the game and force overtime, and Jay Carlson provided the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in the extra period to lift Maryland to a 10-9 win and a share of the Big Ten title.
