Marshall football attempts to block out negative noise

HUNTINGTON — Most high school prospects and collegiate athletes are dialed into social media, and many aren’t shy about using Twitter, Instagram, etc.

But when your team is 2-5 in a town that has gone from buzzing to buzzing mad, it may be time to take cover.

For Marshall lineman Clint Van Horn, it isn’t hard. He withdrew from social media back when times were good.

“I deleted my Twitter almost two years ago, so I don’t know about the mess and all that jazz,” he said Monday. “It wasn’t just because of the outside stuff; I deleted my Twitter when we were still winning, so there wasn’t as much criticism coming from our fan base and outside of our fan base.
