Marshall is hiring former Duke, Pittsburgh, Miami and Florida assistant football coach Aubrey Hill, a source confirmed Saturday.
Bruce Feldman of Fox previously reported the hiring, as did Southeast Florida High School Sports, an arm of the CBSMiami media group. Feldman tweeted that the hire will re-establish the Thundering Herd’s presence in Florida, and that Hill “was also highly recommended by former coaches.”
The 45-year-old Hill is the head coach at Carol City Senior High School in Miami-Dade County, where he led the Chiefs to the Florida Class 6A state championship last fall.
But he carries a checkered past in the college ranks, having served a two-year “show cause” penalty from the NCAA Committee on Infractions.
