HUNTINGTON — It’s a good thing for Marshall that it plays Charlotte at home this year — not because home field typically provides an advantage, but because MU won’t have to deal with the 49ers’ senior day.

When that ceremony takes place next month, it will go on and on and on and on.

The 49ers are in their fifth year overall, fourth in actual competition at any level. That means the pioneers, those who chose the 49ers before seeing any facilities built, those who did nothing but practice in 2012, are finishing their careers.
