Wayne Rooney a doubt for Manchester United's clash with Chelsea as Jose Mourinho's captain fails to travel for vital Stamford Bridge clash

Wayne Rooney is a major doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League clash at Chelsea after not travelling with the squad for the visit to Stamford Bridge.

The United and England captain, who has faced growing criticism of his form this season, was not with his team-mates as they boarded the train for London on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho, set to return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday 10 months after he was sacked by former club Chelsea, was unlikely to start Rooney anyway having used him as a substitute in United’s last three matches.
