Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin opens up on 'painful' Manchester United exile: 'I couldn't pretend to be happy… with Van Gaal, I was not thinking as myself

Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted he stopped going to games as a Manchester United player as it was 'painful' and admits he could not play his natural game under Louis Van Gaal.

Schneiderlin joined United from Southampton in June 2015 for £30million, but never enjoyed a run of games at Old Trafford and was exiled from the first team.

He joined Everton for £20million in January and has impressed since, but the scars of an unsuccessful spell under former United boss Van Gaal still remain.
