Alan Shearer insists Manchester City defender John Stones would have been dropped by now if he was a young centre forward that kept on missing chances.
Shearer, who was speaking on Match of the Day 2 after City's 4-0 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park, slammed Stones for constantly making mistakes in the City backline.
The former Newcastle striker was debating with Phil Neville, who believes that the 22-year-old is a 'top top player' that will keep on improving.
Stones was at fault for Everton's final goal, scored by Ademola Lookman, after his attempted clearance hit Seamus Coleman before dropping to the feet of the former Charlton man to knock home.
