OMAHA, Neb. -- Before Saturday, Paul Mainieri relished the chance for LSU to face a Florida State baseball program that had been to the College World Series 22 other times.
Come Monday, the LSU coach will welcome the opportunity to snap the nation's longest winning streak.
"Honestly, I'm glad Oregon State won that game," Mainieri said late Saturday. "And I'm glad we won our game even more so. It sets up a great match, I think, on Monday night."
LSU (49-17) and Oregon State (55-4) have the two longest winning streaks in the country, with LSU's 17-game streak being topped only by Oregon State's 22-game run.
