LSU Football Recruiting: What To Watch For On Signing Day

Les Miles and the LSU Tigers have made some major moves in the weeks leading up to National Signing Day, but they aren't done just yet.

LSU has up to four spots left depending on movement elsewhere, and they have quite a few targets remaining as we hit crunch time. Here's a look at what you can expect:

Realistic Targets

WR Derrick Dillon (4-Star)

A native of Franklinton, LA, Dillon is set to decide between the Tigers and the Florida Gators. LSU is the heavy favorite, and at this point we'd be shocked if he doesn't choose the Tigers.

OT Toby Weathersby (4-Star)

A realistic target, but recruiting analysts across the country have had trouble getting a read on this one. It sounds like LSU is the most likely destination, but Oklahoma and Arkansas are very much in play.

LB Leo Lewis (4-Star)

Lewis was committed to Ole Miss until late January, when he de-committed and focused his attention on LSU and Mississippi State. The two are neck-and-neck, and this one is likely to go down to the wire.

S Justin Reid (3-Star)

Reid is a Louisiana native struggling with a decision between the in-state Tigers and Stanford out west. It sounds as though the Cardinal are leading the race, but not by much.

TE Foster Moreau (3-Star)

Moreau has quite a few offers on the table, but LSU is by far the biggest school interested. A commitment elsewhere would be a major surprise.

Reaches

DE CeCe Jefferson (5-Star)

A 5-Star DE from Florida, Jefferson's odds of ending up in Louisiana have nearly fallen off the board. Barring a miraculous last-minute turnaround, it's Alabama, Florida or Ole Miss (in that order).

QB Torrance Gibson (4-Star)

Gibson is already committed to Ohio State, and despite a recent visit to LSU it sounds like it'll stay that way. Don't hold your breath.

The Verdict:

LSU fans can expect a solid, if unspectacular signing day. Dillon, Moreau and Weathersby are very likely to end up committing, with Lewis and Reid a toss-up. LSU has most of their top targets locked up already, so any late fireworks would be a bit of a shock...that said, with the recruiting firepower Les Miles now has at his disposal, anything can happen.
