U of L athletics agreed to pay an additional $2.5 million yearly for their lease with the KFC Yum! Center. The agreement now moves to be reviewed and possibly approved both the university board and Yum! arena’s board. They meet at 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively.
The extra cost is an effort to cover the arena’s bond debt, according to attorney Mike Herrington. The agreed $2.5 million payment adds to athletics’ $1.3 million yearly payment which is already in place.
