Just prior to the 2017 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a big trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The deal sent D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Nets in exchange for Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in the draft.
While this move was likely made to get rid of the awful contract of Timofey Mozgov, what might have been overshadowed was the nice return the Nets got for the Russell and Mozgov.
With all due respect to Russell and Mozgov, Lopez was clearly the best player involved in the trade as of now.
