According to TMZ Sports former Los Angeles center Mike Richards was stopped crossing the border from the United States into Canada on June 17 and was questioned about the prescription painkiller oxycodone.

The Kings terminated Richards’ 12-year $69 million contract Monday for what the team called “a material breach” of the requirements of his deal.
Los Angeles has not commented further on the topic. The NHL Players’ Association said it is looking into the situation, but conferring with Richards on how to proceed forward.
