CARSON, Calif. – Former LA Galaxy forward Herculez Gomez announced his retirement after an accomplished 15-year professional career.

Gomez, a member of the LA Galaxy’s 2002 and 2005 MLS Cup winning squads, ends his career with stops at 13 clubs across the United States and Mexico. The now 34-year-old striker won the Galaxy’s Player of the Year award in 2005 when he notched his MLS career-high 11 goals for the eventual MLS Cup champions.

Gomez spent last season with MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC, making 21 appearances for the league titleholders. A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gomez played 24 times for the United States and appeared at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
