Five Cubs pitchers combine to hold travel-weary Dodgers to one hit in winning series opener, 2-0

CHICAGO – The Dodgers checked out of their hotel in New York on Sunday, played a game past 11 p.m. local time, then grabbed a quick flight and checked into a hotel in Chicago in the darkness Monday morning.

Their offense still hasn’t checked in to Wrigley Field.

The Dodgers mustered just one hit and a total of two baserunners Monday afternoon against Chicago Cubs pitcher Jason Hammel and four relievers in a 2-0 loss before the announced crowd of 41,470 at Wrigley Field.

Hammel allowed a single to the third batter he faced, Justin Turner.
