Dodgers rout Rockies, but clinching party will have to wait

Los Angeles >> Wait … for … it.

The Dodgers did their part, shaving their magic number to clinch the National League West down to 1 with a 14-1 rout of the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.

Then they turned their attention south – well, their full attention. Even Dodgers manager Dave Roberts admitted they would have “one eye on the scoreboard” all night, following the second-place San Francisco Giants’ game against the San Diego Padres.

After blowing a 6-0 lead — just the latest in a second-half series of self-inflicted wounds — the Giants won it in the 10th inning, keeping the champagne on ice in the Los Angeles clubhouse for another night.
