With a lack of production from their collective group of outfielders, coupled with multiple injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers were moved to call up Cody Bellinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Not only did Bellinger join the Dodgers for the first time in his career, he was immediately thrust into the fire — starting in left field and batting eighth against the San Francisco Giants. The 21-year-old joined Joc Pederson, Corey Seager and Julio Urias as prospects to make their heralded arrival.
In the case of Bellinger and Urias, it’s come sooner than anticipated.
