Dodgers' decision on Alex Guerrero will be rendered soon

CHICAGO >> Alex Guerrero did not appear in a minor league rehabilitation game Monday. He collected a day’s worth of pay and a day’s worth of major league service time.

The same might not be true Tuesday, when the Dodgers must decide what to do with a 29-year-old utility player who no longer fits their roster.

By refusing to accept a minor league assignment — the player’s right under the terms of the four-year, $28 million contract he signed with the Dodgers in October 2013 — Guerrero has effectively limited the Dodgers to a handful of options, none of which seem very desirable paper.
