Report: Dodgers, two other teams "in mix" for Jon Lester trade

In this Dodgers trade rumors and news update, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly one of three teams with a legitimate chance of landing Boston Red Sox ace Jon Lester via trade before Thursday's non-waiver deadline.

Per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, previously-reported contenders such as the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles may have fallen off the pace:

With the Los Angeles Dodgers likely having to give up super-prospect Joc Pederson in a deal for their other reported trade target, Tampa Bay's David Price, it is possible that Los Angeles has turned their attentions to the 30-year-old Lester.

Lester is currently only signed through this season (Price comes with an extra year of team control), so the Dodgers could very well give up less to swing a deal with Boston while still putting themselves into prime position for this year's playoff push.

Rosenthal is also reporting that the Red Sox have scratched Lester from his scheduled start tomorrow, meaning that negotiations could be in their final stages. If so, the Dodgers could conceivable be this close to making the deal of this year's deadline.
