Oft-injured lefty Brett Anderson is ready to put all of his setbacks behind him and give the Los Angeles Dodgers a more-than-adequate return on the one-year, $10 million investment they made in him this offseason.
However, he also understands when detractors call the move by the Dodgers a 'gamble' because of what has been a checkered injury over the past five years.
“Yes and no,” Anderson said when asked if he was a "gamble" on Wednesday, via the OC Register. “Due to my track record, it’s hard to sit around and say I’m not (a gamble) just because I haven’t been able to go out there as consistently as I’d like and I’m sure the teams I played for would have liked.

“But also, it’s been some fluky things. If there was a continuous arm thing or a continuous recurring to one body part, that’d be one thing. But breaking my finger – I tell people I’m pretty sure I’m the only guy to swing a bat and have the bat break my finger and the bat not break itself. Just kind of crazy stuff like that happening.”
Anderson is hoping to put all that behind him come the 2015 MLB season.
“The last few years I’ve had those goals where I want to go out and make 30-plus starts and I wanted to go out there and throw 200 innings,” Anderson said. “Then you don’t accomplish those goals and you get disappointed. Obviously in a perfect world, I’d like to do all those things but I’m just going to take it start to start and when I’m able to go out there and pitch I feel I’m one of the better pitchers in the game – when I’m able to go out there and pitch. I’m just looking forward to every five days and making the most of it.”
