In a sporting contest where the winning team simply scores more points than their opposition, I prefer to not get caught up in the hyper-analytic statistical analysis of every detail of the game that is so en vogue today, and instead focus on two statistical components that stand above the rest as tried and true: point differential and, most importantly (especially during the intense grind of the post-season), points allowed.
