Clippers Rumors: LeBron James free agency, could Clippers make a deal?

In today's Clippers rumors and news update, the Miami Heat have a potential situation on their hands in regards to LeBron James' impending decision about his free agency - a situation which could make the Los Angeles Clippers dark horses once again to sign the ten-time NBA All-Star.

Here's Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports with an assessment of the situation on South Beach:

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, the Cleveland Cavaliers have replaced the Miami Heat as his "frontrunner" to sign James. However, the Los Angeles Clippers have the unique position of being able to offer James one of his best chances to win a championship straightaway - even if they have to maneuver a sign-and-trade for Blake Griffin in order to make the deal happen.

While the Clippers remain a long shot to make a run at James, the opportunity to take a chance at altering the course of the franchise could be available just a few short days from now. Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears indicates that Heat president Pat Riley will meet with James in the next 2-3 days.

If James states that he's ready to test the market, look for the Clippers to at least assess what they can do to bring him to Los Angeles.
