MILWAUKEE – Although Mike Scioscia doesn’t like to use labels, his lineup card speaks for itself.
Including Monday’s game, Geovany Soto started at catcher in three of four games, which seems to be a clear indication that – for now at least – Soto has passed Carlos Perez on the Angels depth chart.
Obviously, Soto has been hot at the plate, with two homers over the weekend and a .344 average coming into Monday’s game. Perez was hitting .148.
Although Scioscia had always spoke publicly about the two sharing the job, Perez started 15 of the first 22 games behind the plate, including opening day.
