ARLINGTON, Texas -- Josh Hamilton will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery next month, the Texas Rangers announced Monday.
The surgery on his left knee is scheduled for June 8 in Houston.
The former Angels outfielder who was traded back to Texas last season has not played in a game this season.
Hamilton, 35, left a rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on April 30 with knee soreness and has not appeared in a game since.
In 50 games with the Rangers last season, Hamilton hit .253 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in a playoff-clinching win over the Angels last October.
