Angels Notes: Pondering a shorter spring training

/ STAFF WRITER

Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker said if spring training were shorter, pitchers could still get ready in time.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Ask a player if spring training is too long, and his perspective could depend on the day.

“When you are feeling hot, you want the games to start,” Andrelton Simmons said. “When you’re not feeling that hot, it’s like ‘Maybe I need a couple more at-bats.’”

While it’s unlikely spring training will be shortened — because of tradition and the money teams make on exhibition games — it’s always a question asked this time of year.
